Home » NOVITOM – who we are
Novitom is an independent and innovative company specialising in advanced 3D characterisation of materials and objects. Founded in 2011 by two researchers from the CNRS, Novitom combines a rigorous scientific approach with continuous innovation and close collaboration with its partners.
Our mission: to provide a clear view of the internal structure of complex materials and objects in order to improve understanding of their properties and facilitate innovation.
Our solutions are aimed at both academic research and industry: quality control, R&D, product innovation and expertise. The Novitom team brings together scientists, engineers and experts who can select and adapt technologies to the specific needs of each customer, offering customised solutions that meet the complex challenges of R&D, quality control and product innovation.
We are ISO 9001 certified and accredited to “crédit impôt recherche CIR”.
Our team, composed of engineers, doctors and specialised technicians, supports you at every stage of your project with exemplary scientific rigour.
Accessible and committed, our team of experts offers solutions tailored to your needs, budgets, and deadlines, with a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.
To provide you with the most relevant answers, we push the boundaries and develop tailor-made tools, software, and protocols.
We are committed to working with partners who respect social and environmental standards, in line with our vision of responsible research.
Research and innovation are in Novitom’s DNA. Some 250 publications in international journals and presentations at conferences and trade shows attest to this!
Since its creation, Novitom has been a service provider aiming to make the results of its R&D available to as many people as possible.
Novitom is an approved Research Tax Credit (CIR) organisation.

Contact our technical sales team to evaluate together the best solutions, whether existing or yet to be developed, to meet your challenge.
Once the experimental and analysis protocols have been defined, you will receive a detailed quote. The study will commence upon receipt of your order form and samples. Invoicing will take place after the final report has been submitted.
During the study, we will keep you informed of progress and discuss any necessary adjustments. After submitting the report, we will remain available for any explanations or additional information you may require.
Whether for a one-off characterisation or a long-term project, Novitom offers flexible solutions tailored to your needs.
Our services are provided in accordance with ISO 9001 standards, and you can benefit from our "Crédit Impôt Recherche" accreditation.
Founded in 2011 in Grenoble by two researchers from the CNRS, Novitom aims to open up new perspectives by using synchrotron technologies for the characterisation of industrial products. Initially specialising in 3D imaging and characterisation of materials using synchrotron microtomography, Novitom quickly won over its first customers and the company’s offering expanded to include other synchrotron techniques, such as microdiffraction, spectroscopy and advanced microscopy methods.
Novitom goes even further by offering advanced non-destructive testing solutions, industrial R&D support, simulation and image analysis software, and experimental devices for in situ thermal and mechanical testing.
In 2016, Novitom strengthened its presence with a branch in the Paris region, near the SOLEIL synchrotron. In 2021, Novitom took on a new dimension by becoming the main shareholder of the German company Xploraytion, thereby expanding its range of advanced techniques and increasing its responsiveness to better serve its customers.
The team, now made up of around fifteen specialists – doctors and engineers with complementary skills in physics, biology, chemistry, metallurgy, mechanics, digital simulation and IT – tackles challenges in sectors as varied as aeronautics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, automotive, energy and heritage with enthusiasm and a resolutely multidisciplinary approach.
