Comparison of the scanned full volume of a part with its CAD model

High-resolution, high-energy X-ray tomography provides non-destructive access to the entire part, including internal areas that are inaccessible to other techniques.

NOVITOM has developed an algorithm for comparing the CAD part with the volume reconstructed by tomography obtained on the manufactured part.

The image next to this text is a 3D rendering of an electric motor where areas that deviate from the CAD are colour-coded: the red areas represent the most significant deviations.

As an independent laboratory, Novitom provides organisations with access to synchrotron imaging techniques.

  • Regular access to large instruments at synchrotron facilities.
  • Expertise in experimental design for real-time, in situ and in operando microtomography.
  • Expertise in extracting information and physical parameters from raw data and in combination with auxiliary techniques.
