Novitom : specialist for X ray microtomography

What is Microtomography?

X-Ray microtomography is a spatial high-resolution 3D imaging technique that is both non-destructive and non-invasive. The penetrating power of X-rays is used by Novitom to reveal the internal microstructure of a sample enabling a clear understanding of its morphology, the distribution of its components or even structural weaknesses or flaws. The process can be used to test samples at a submicron scale, in normal or in controlled conditions.

Common applications for X-ray microtomography include:

  • Digitising the micro architecture of natural or modified products,
  • Characterising the efficiency of a process,
  • Testing the behaviour or ageing process of materials,
  • Modeling: providing structural parameters at a microscopic level to model the macroscopic behaviour of the materials.

Why choose Novitom?

Novitom demonstrates significant competitive advantage over other microtomography service providers through its ability to exploit synchrotron beam power. The benefits of using synchrotrons over conventional beam sources are numerous. The intensity of the synchrotron beam, its continuous, broad spectrum and low angular divergence are used to best advantage to improve contrast, spatial resolution and the quantitative character of reconstructed volumes.

These important technical benefits enable Novitom to generate images of extraordinary quality; images that could never be produced using traditional microtomographic sources.
